Slow and Sluggish November 11, 2007 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I just got this game. I don't/do really like it at all on these reasons:
Good Reasons-
There are alot of modes to play on. The season is now much more advanced. There are alot of Wrestlers to play as.
Bad Reasons-
The game is very slow and sluggish. The controls are awful. Commentary is very annoying and repetitive.

Having owned all the other WWE games (even going back to the megadrive)i have to say i am very dissapointed with this latest release. The season mode is diabolical, there are only 15 wrestlers you can use from the roster. No ecw stars can be used for the season! The roster has lost about 20 wrestlers from last year. Its down to about 50 from 70 on SVR 2007.This is pretty poor in the general manager mode as there are 3 brands now and less wrestlers. There are less moves per wrestler now, and the instruction booklet is pretty poor as well. Yes you can set fire to tables and barb-wire wrapped sticks, but it doesnt tell you how to in the booklet. Nor does it explain how to win table matches (so people new to the SVR games beware- its not a great one to start with). The moves i have found to be slow and finishers a lot harder to pull off. Having to hold 2 buttons at once to run, and as soon as you let go of one you go staight back to walking. However on the upside we have ECW!!!!! Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, Sabu and a few more. Flaming tables and a range of new weapons, a tournament challenge (King of the Ring, Beat the Clock and create your own). Having different styles of wrestler is a good idea too, especially for hardcore players (they can do more moves with weapons). Also there are a few new moves with weapons- such as spinning round with the ladders on your head.I do feel very much robbed now i have purchased this though, i advise you to rent this first or borrow it from a friend to try before you buy, if you have to buy it- wait till its available second hand cheaper.
most boring smackdown ever made November 10, 2007 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
hello my name is stuart and i was really looking forwould to this years smackdown because i have all 8 game from earlier years and i thought last years game was a bit of a let down but conpared to this years game last years one was really good this one is a sirious let down the game is good for a rental but not to buy once you have done the new 24/7 mode in story mode once it just repeats its self over and very and the GM mode is basicly the same as last year there is nothing in this game worth you spending your money on they need to do somthing diffrent next year or do a better and longer story mode in 24/7 or just stop making them all together because it just feels like a waste of money buying them now

WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2008 Its coming July 6, 2007 15 out of 27 found this review helpful
One of the main areas of focus for the team behind the game has been to move away from the canned animations, outlandish HUD elements, and button mashing that defined so many of the earlier games in the series. The shift in focus will be realized in a number of different new features in SVR 2008, including new fighting styles and a new submission control system.
The fighting styles should have a dramatic effect on SVR 2008's gameplay. The game will include eight fighting styles, which both the WWE wrestlers and your created grapplers will be categorized into: hardcore, high flyer, submission artist, powerhouse, brawler, showman, dirty, and technical. While in previous SVR games you've always had the ability to assign different styles to your wrestlers, the game didn't always demonstrate a good sense of internal logic--consider the fact that you could easily have big man Kane pulling off high flyer moves normally reserved for the likes of Jeff Hardy or Rey Mysterio Jr. Now that won't be the case, as the new fighting styles will place wrestlers into the roles that better suit their real-life capabilities.
